The Site Allocations Development Plan Document will identify sites throughout the District (outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park) for development up to 2026. It will be prepared in-line with the policies set out in the Core Strategy.
The Council is in the initial stages of preparing the Site Allocations Document, and is looking at sites throughout the District that might have potential for development.
There is now an opportunity to put forward land and sites to the Council for consideration.
If you would like to suggest a possible development site please supply the following information to the Planning Policy Team:
- A site location plan with the land/buildings you would like considering clearly outlined (preferably in red);
- A brief letter indicating which use you would like the land to be considered for.
You do not need to own the land in question.
To date over 250 sites have been submitted to the Council for consideration. These sites are currently being assessed according to their suitability, accessibility and availability for development.
A Compendium of Sites Document, has been put together to show the sites that have been suggested to date. The compendium is available to view at the following locations:
- Granville Street Council Offices, Skipton.
- Town Hall, Skipton
- Town Hall, Settle
The Compendium of Sites Document has been issued for information purposes only. At this stage no decisions have been made about which sites will be allocated, or the likely land uses of the final chosen sites.
All the sites that have been assessed by the Council will be put together in the first draft of the Site Allocations Development Plan Document, which will be issued for public consultation to gain additional knowledge of the suitability or otherwise of the sites. The Council does not currently have a date set for this consultation, but details will be made available on this page of the website.
An important background study for the Site Allocations Development Plan Document is the Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment. This study looked at the sites that have been submitted for consideration in the Site Allocations Development Plan Document, as well as other land in and around the main settlements of Craven to see what land within the District could potentially become available for development in future. For further information on this study please follow the link above.
